Auckland zoo has now opened new habitats
On July the 2nd Auckland zoo has celebrated the opening of a new habitat for Orangutans and Siamangs. The new enclosure is one aspect of the zoo's new $60m South East Asia Jungle Area. The zoo has been opened for 97 years and this has been it's biggest advancement in it's history. The new habitat provides a thrilled and engaging environment for the Orangutans and Siamangs. it also allows primate staff to give them the very best care.

Last week Friday it was Ruapotaka's 66th birthday, it was a normal day until it was 11:30 were Mrs Hamilton held an assembly outside room 1. She asked us if we knew what today was, most of us were confused but the rest of us said it was our 66th birthday they brought a largecake out and everyone was like WOW! The oldest student in our school came up with the youngest student and cut the cake there names are Nurul and Isadora. At lunch time everyone got a slice of cake it had blue icing on top of the cake the flavour was chocolate.

Knee Deep
For our 2nd week of term 2 we were finally at school. The first book we read was called Knee Deep, it is a story about a disaster that happened in Christchurch on February 2011.
Part of the story
There were lots of collapsed buildings, chocking clouds of dust and tonnes of spilled raw sewage. For over the next six months part of the city wastewater system was fixed together but it needed to be repaired permanently. Unfortunately so did everything else in Christchurch.

Sat: Page 1 & 2
Does anyone remember the earthquake disaster at Christchurch immediately after the February 2011. Earthquake, distressed people, collapsed buildings, clouds of choking dust. What was more difficult to capture was the impact of thousands of tonnes of spilled raw sewage .Of course they people of Christchurch understood this all too well.

Going to Tech
Our second task was to write if any of these plastics were recyclable (like bottles, milk containers, plastic pipping and more.) We would say yes or no if it was recyclable or not. It was our last task Mrs Sharma told us to write the major and minor change you were going to do. The changes that I am going to do is not to use plastic and pick up any plastic I see.
